The Spring Refresh: Ways to Elevate Your Home
By Iokasti Sotirakopoulou
Spring is less about adding and more about editing- giving a space room to breathe again. After the heaviness of winter, our homes ask for something lighter: a shift in balance, a softer palette, a detail that makes the familiar feel new. Great interior design has never been about excess; it’s about intention. The right choices, made thoughtfully, can transform a space into somewhere that genuinely feels like you.
We sat down with two of our AP Keys interior design partners, Leticia Tocino and Iokasti Sotirakopoulou , to share their favourite ways to elevate and refresh a home this season
1. Fresh Flowers That Instantly Lift a Space
I like to start with fresh flowers, tulips always feel right. They bring movement, softness and a quiet sense of seasonality, and instantly make a room feel more alive without trying too hard.

2. Softer Tones Through Small Details
Spring doesn’t need a full colour change. I bring in softer tones through small details like cushions, throws or a piece of ceramics, just enough to gently lift the space and shift the mood.
3. Restyling What You Already Have
Sometimes the biggest change comes from using what’s already there. Moving objects, restyling a coffee table or adjusting the balance of a room can completely transform how it feels, making it lighter, more personal and refreshed.

4. Layer Your Lighting
Lighting is one of the most transformative elements in a home. Instead of relying on a single overhead fixture, introduce light at different heights: floor lamps, table lamps, and wall lighting all working together to create depth. Opt for warm-toned bulbs and indirect lighting wherever possible to achieve a soft, ambient glow. For an added touch of character, consider wall sconces with candles; they feel incredibly chic and evoke a sense of stepping back in time, adding romance and atmosphere to any room.
5. Think Big in Small Spaces
When working with limited space, don’t be afraid to go bold. A large statement artwork or a thoughtfully arranged gallery wall can create a striking focal point and add depth. Mirrors are equally powerful; they reflect light, enhance the sense of space, and bring a subtle elegance to any room.

6. Elevate Everyday Rituals
Finally, consider the small luxuries that enhance daily life. For coffee lovers, a bean-to-cup machine is more than just an appliance it’s an experience turning a daily routine into a moment of comfort and indulgence.

7. Add Soul Through Sound
A home should engage more than just the eyes; it should have a feeling, a rhythm. Incorporating a vinyl record player or a high-quality sound system adds a sensory layer that instantly elevates a space. There’s something special about analogue sound; it encourages you to slow down and choose music intentionally, imagining the albums and artists that will accompany everyday moments in the home.
Designing a home isn’t just about how it looks, it’s about how it feels to live inside it. Whether you begin with a single small detail or rethink a room entirely, what matters is that each choice is made with care. A home that feels considered doesn’t happen by accident. It happens one intentional detail at a time.
