The AP Keys List: A London Guide from our favourite foodies

Welcome to our curation of restaurants that feel essential to London right now. The kind of places you remember not just for the food, but for the room, the mood, the way the evening unfolded.
For our first AP Keys List, we asked the people whose taste we genuinely trust. The ones who know where to book before everyone else does. The tables they return to without hesitation. The restaurants that feel distinctly London at this moment.
Some are already modern classics. Others are quietly becoming them. Together, they capture the city in motion, from hushed dining rooms to louder Soho tables.
If you’re new to London, consider this a starting point.
If you already live here, perhaps it’s time to book the one you’ve been meaning to.
Come hungry.

Ikoyi, The Strand
A Michelin-starred tasting-menu experience that layers West African flavours with British ingredients in a way that feels intellectual yet deeply sensual. Every course feels like a quiet revelation. The kind of meal where the room goes silent because everyone is too busy processing what just happened.
‘Ikoyi doesn’t shout. It simmers, lingers and then completely rewires your palate to flavours you’ve never experienced’
Part of what makes it so compelling is the story behind it. Chef Jeremy Chan, a Princeton graduate who left private equity to pursue cooking, built something deeply personal here, and you can feel it on the plate.
180 Strand, Temple, London WC2R 1EA

A hyper-seasonal, nose-to-tail modern British kitchen that makes sustainability feel indulgent rather than virtuous. There is real energy in the room. It’s the rate place where you can feel the creativity and the chaos of the kitchen and yet every plate arrives balanced and assured.
“Fallow is proof that sustainable food can still win.”
52 Haymarket, London SW1Y 4RP

Fatt Pundit, Soho
Indo-Chinese comfort food turned London cult classic. Punchy, playful, and unapologetically craveable. It’s my go-to when I want pure explosion of flavour on the table. Chilli heat, glossy sauces, and the kind of dishes you fight over.
”If Ikoyi is a slow burn and Fallow is a flirt, Fatt Pundit is the party.”
And the brownie isn’t optional.

The Pelican
A refined modern British pub in Notting Hill that works for almost any plan. Drop in for great drinks and small plates like Welsh rarebit or crab toast, or settle in for a proper meal. The pies are a highlight, and the atmosphere suits everything from fireside catch-ups to dates.
45 All Saints Rd, London W11 1HE

Canal
A waterside spot in Westbourne Park that’s easy to enjoy at lunch or dinner. The canal setting does a lot of the work, the service is warm and attentive, and the menu centres on seasonal plates designed for sharing. The changing pasta dish is always one to order.
11b Woodfield Road, Westbourne Park, London, W9 2BA

Luca
A Michelin-starred Italian in Farringdon best saved for an occasion. Elegant without feeling stiff, with standout service, strong attention to detail, and beautifully executed Italian-inspired dishes. A place to celebrate and make a night of it.
88 St John St, London EC1M 4EH
